Former Mixed Martial Artist and biggest trash talker turn pundit Chael Sonnen Looking ahead to a potential future of Colby Covington become UFC Welterweight Champion.
Dana White caused a stir among fans when he announced that Covington is the next contender for the UFC welterweight championship, shortly after Leon Edwards defeated Kamaru Usman at UFC 286. This decision came as a surprise to many, who were not expecting Covington to be granted another shot at the title.
Many fans have expressed doubts about Covington deserving another opportunity to compete for the welterweight championship. This could be attributed to factors such as his extended absence from the sport or the level of competition he has faced. As a result, there are other worthy contenders who some believe should also be taken into consideration for the title shot.
In the latest video of his youtube channel Chael sonnen said:
“What would happen if Colby won? Colby Covington — correct me if I’m wrong — would become the biggest villain to be UFC champion in the sport’s history. Do you see it differently? And what would happen then?”

“I mean, what would happen when Colby’s the champion of the world? Where is he gonna turn it up to then? What opportunities are gonna present themselves, what media? What interviews? What spots? I’m just saying that’s a very interesting thing to me.”
“Where I’m telling you that Colby might be the biggest villain to be champion ever, Leon might be the nicest champion ever.”
Colby haven’t return to the octagon since he defeated Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 272 in march 2022. After the UFC 286 main event earlier this month in which Leon Edwards successfully defended the welterweight title against Kamaru Usman, UFC president Dana White confirmed to reporters that Covington will get the next crack at gold.
One the other hand Leon Edwards who’s on 12 fight wining streak , closing his trilogy with Kamaru Usman by regaining his title against Usman . His other noteable win come’s with likes of Nate Diaz,Donal Cerrone, Rafal Dos Anjos and Gunnar Nelson.
